PhD Candidate, Chemical and Biological Engineering
Carla Ng
received her B.S. and M.S. in Chemical Engineering from the State University of New York at Buffalo. In
her work in the Natural and Engineered Systems unit of the Gray research group,
she is investigating the interactions of food web structure, contaminant
accumulation and invasive species. She
integrates computational tools with empirical measurements of species
interactions and life histories in order to probe how these parameters affect
the ultimate fate of contaminants like mercury and PCBs. She is also interested in how the level of
ecological detail used in an ecosystem model can affect model sensitivity and
uncertainty, and thereby the level of confidence that can be placed in an
ecological prediction.
