Research in the Gray lab can be roughly divided between two groups. The Photocatalysis Group studies the synthesis of TiO2 and its application to environmental systems. Current work in this group utilizes solution-gelation chemistry and physical vapor deposition techniques to create novel catalysts. These catalysts are tested in both gaseous and liquid systems. The Natural and Engineered Systems Group has encompassed a wide variety of research projects, from rivers to wetlands to urban gardens. Currently, research in this group is focused on contaminant transfer in food webs and the effects of different types of residential planning on greenhouse gas emissions.
