Braided Stream on Plains

Thumbnail 2 shows braided stream deposits like those for the mountain example. While this particular sandy deposit is found at a greater distance from the source, its method of formation is the same as that for the mountain example. Thumbnail 1 shows eroded clay-shales, whose weathering products are deposited as fans in the braided stream valley. The idealized cross section shows the interlaced lenticular nature of the deposit (Sowers, 1976). Home
