Plunging Anticline Rock Deposits
The axis of the fold is runs from the center of box 1 to the center of box 2 and plunges from box 1 toward box 2. The anticlinal limb toward the photograph bottom is nearly vertical, and that toward the top dips toward the top as shown by the "V's" of the more erosionally resistant starata. The older core of the anticline is encircled in box 1, and is composed of erosionally resistant metaphosed sedimentary rock. The faint banding of these "metasediments" is detectable, and is oriented parallel to topographic contour lines.
