Our Faculty carry out research incorporating theory, experiment, and computation in the generation of new knowledge, systems, and techniques at the forefront of civil and environmental engineering. We are organized into five groups, Environmental Engineering and Science, Geotechnics and Environmental Geotechnics, Mechanics of Materials and Structures, Project Management, and Transportation Systems Analysis and Planning. Faculty in each group offer general interest and specialty courses through the PhD level. Each group is actively engaged in research and contributes its unique perspectives, skills, and linkages to the strength of our department. Most faculty are involved in a diversity of research projects which are often interdisciplinary in nature, involving faculty from other groups, departments, and schools within the university.
